Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has rejected a new £13m-a-year deal to remain at the club, according to reports.
The 35-year-old has been ruled out of action for nine months after
injuring his knee ligaments during the Red Devils’ Europa League win
over Anderlecht.
Reports in the Sun claim that Manchester United are keen to see
Ibrahimovic stay at the Old Trafford and offering the forward a
£13m-a-year deal even after his devastating injury.
The report also claim that Ibrahimovic snubbed the offer because he
believes he does not deserve the money while he focuses on his
rehabilation.
Jose Mourinho, who was clearly devastated at the Swede’s injury, also
revealed that the injury has triggered a change in plans ahead of a
busy summer transfer window.
There reports that United will turn to other targets next summer,
with strong indications that Mourinho is ready to rival his former side,
Chelsea for Everton forward Romelu Lukaku and will also move for
Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Greizmann.
Torino striker Andrea Belotti is also believed to be a summer target
for the Red Devils but have to beat intense competition from their
Premier League rivals.
